Effective Testing Strategies and Tools for DWH/BI Projects by Wayne Yaddow
To assure the correctness of an ETL process and BI reporting, it’s essential to carefully prepare an end-to-end test strategy using proven methods, processes, and tools. Today, too many BI projects fail completely or end up over budget and late in delivery due to in-effective quality assurance.
This session highlights the categories of testing that BI stakeholders should consider for project success.
QA teams and project managers, combined with business users and other IT stakeholders, will gain confidence in their data integration / ETL / BI processes by learning to develop efficient and successful tests of the entire end-to-end ETL process.
Modern IT QA organizations should substantially increase their participation and support in large-scale data integration, data warehouse, and BI. Such projects are often known to be over budget, behind schedule and often considered a failure due to primarily to quality issues. This presentation provides significant insights to overcome these issues and improve on the rates of success.

Humanizing data science by Jeff Baird
Princeton Professor Alex Todorov did an experiment where he showed volunteers pictures of candidates running for local office. He found that with nothing but a picture, people could guess who won about 70% of the time! Todorov observed that people look for trust & competence in someone they're considering voting for. But what about the candidates background, principles & background? WHAT ABOUT THE DATA??
Jeff Baird, data analytics manager & professional people skills hacker has been on a reluctant path of discovery. He's found that while data is essential, it's not enough if we want to persuade and influence. He'll share 3 nonverbal ninja tricks that help us with perhaps the most challenging aspect of data science; Connecting with and influencing people, as we're presenting our data.
